TAMARA WARREN has written for over 100 publications including The New York Times, Elle, Rolling Stone, Details, Vox, Esquire, Forbes, Jay-Z’s Life+Times, Car and Driver, AutoWeek, Vibe, and the Detroit Free Press. Tamara is the CEO and founder of Le Car. She is the former transportation editor and senior transportation reporter at The Verge.

In addition to her writings about the evolution of car culture, she has covered contemporary art, design, music, and social justice issues. She has written profiles of Francis Ford Coppola, Erykah Badu, Deborah Harry, Bill Ford, Wynton Marsalis, Missy Elliott, Tim Russert, former Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx, Andre Leon Talley, John Mellencamp, and Terry Bradshaw.

Tamara is a graduate of The New School’s MFA Creative Writing program, and served as a teaching assistant in the Riggio Honors Program, and James Madison College at Michigan State University, where she first worked as a reporter at The State News.

Tamara was active in the Detroit techno scene in the late '90s, which led to her work as a music writer and later as an automotive journalist. She is a World Car of the Year juror and former US Director. Her essays have appeared in Definition: The Art & Design of Hip Hop (Harper Collins) and  Luxury: History, Culture, Consumption (Bloomsbury.)  She has appeared as a guest on ABC World News Tonight, CBS, CNBC, and The History Channel. The Motor City native lives in New York.
